My Mission - Supporting a wonderful cause & The Hoodoo 500

I have been involved with Ultra-Marathon bicycle racing for many years.

Last year I began riding for a great cause.
In August of 2013 - I did my first race to bring awareness to Neural Tumor Research and the House Clinic in Los Angeles.   Dr. Brackmann and the House Ear Institute saved my life !

The race I started with was the Inyo Ultra 466.

This year I am taking on new challenges.
My biggest challenge this year is my race coming up at the end of August, The Hoodoo 500.



I am always ready physically but need help in some of the logistical areas involved in this type of racing.
I am a rider who has no sponsorship and I am not a non-profit. I am self-employed and this type of racing can get expensive.  I enjoy riding and bringing awareness to a great cause but cannot do this without support.

2023: Early Season Events

  Cotharin Road.                                      Mulholland Double Century This year was a really rainy year in California but we really lucked out as far as it effecting the events. It is funny that in the past few years when we were in severe drought, we had rain on many of the events early on in the season.   CAMINO REAL DOUBLE CENTURY I started off my season with the Camino Real Double Century. I was staffing the ride as usual, being a SAG support driver this year so I could not do the event on event day.  Like I do often, I did a staff ride. I decided to do it the day before the event so I would not have to make two trips down to the Irvine area, one to ride and one to staff.  My sister lives in San Juan Capistrano, just a few miles off the course, so I stayed at her place at the country club. XDV Carmel Valley Double Century 2023

  The back story California's Central Coast is one of the most beautiful places on earth to ride a bike! I cannot believe that I have never done this event before or ridden on these roads. I believe this was the 8th year for this event.  In past years, I have not been able to do the Carmel Valley Double because it was on the final weekend of August, which is Hoodoo 500 weekend. For most of those years, I was doing the Hoodoo 500. I was all signed up to do it last year but due to a medical issue in the family, I had to cancel. My entry was rolled forward to this year and luckily it was scheduled for September 9th, 2 weeks after the Hoodoo 500 which I did this year.  The event is put on by XDV Cycling Club and my friend Dzung Dang. This is an amazing club with such friendly support staff!! I first met Dzung while riding The Oceanside Double Century in 2014. 2023 Hoodoo 500 Ultra Marathon Bike Race

  A short prelude: The  Hoodoo 500   starts in St. George Utah. The course is a large elongated loop that drops into Arizona for just a bit before heading through some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. For those who have not seen my race reports on past Hoodoo 500 races, I have used this prelude before.   I don't know a better way to describe this race other than to quote Planet Ultra , the race organizer.
